Meet the characters

Hal Hunt

Eighteen year old Hal is the older son of John Hunt. Like his father, Hal is a keen zoologist, studying the nature and behaviour of animals both from texts as well as observations in the field. Hal is eager to learn more about the places he visits, the people he meets and the animals he sees. His calm resourcefulness helps to get the boys through moments of peril while making friends with humans and animals alike.

Roger Hunt

Thirteen year old Roger is a lively, mischievous teenager, full of fun and practical jokes. His idea of the trips he and his brother go on is to have as much fun as possible. While this sometimes leads to unfortunate incidents, in no way is Roger malicious. Instead, his generosity, loyalty and energy often helps Hal to work things out and win over the animals the duo capture.

John Hunt

Explorer, zoologist and lover of animals, John Hunt has made it his business to travel the world seeking exotic animals to supply to zoos, circuses and conservation parks. Hunt appears only in some of the books, often taking a back stage to the adventures of his boys. Eager to expand the knowledge and experience of his sons, he allows them a year in which to travel the world and gain this first hand.
