This short walk explores historic Balmain and Birchgrove, former industrial areas now gentrified as desirable inner city suburbs located close to the heart of Sydney's CBD. Numerous examples of the former life still remain, including Propeller Park (shipbuilding), the Colgate-Palmolive estate (factory) and Ballast Point Park (oil storage tanks). Due to limited time, I only did the foreshore of this area, and there is much left to explore on a return visit.

Access is via ferry which is always a treat, and there are numerous cafes and restaurants close by, as well as picnic facilities in the parks along the foreshore. It was a great morning out in the most beautiful city in the world.
