This moderately challenging track visits the beautiful Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park in Sydney's north. My 5 year old son and I spent a wonderful Saturday following the banks of Cowan Creek from Apple Tree Bay to Waratah Bay. The track is quite rough and involves a fair amount of scrambling over rocks, so allow sufficient time of the trek. Spring time saw a mass of wildflowers adding splashes of colour to the landscape. While it can be hot on the exposed sandstone plateau, I found the track along Cowan Creek to be shaded and pleasantly cool.

A great day out according to my son, and I am sure the icecream at the train station helped to make it perfect for him!
