Red Hands Cave
8.2 km (2.5 hrs )
This track follows in the footsteps of the Darug people who once lived along the banks of Campfire Creek and had left their marks in form of axe grinding grooves and Aboriginal rock art at Red Hands Cave. The track along the creek is fairly level and not too difficult, although there are some stairs to climb once you leave Campfire Creek to head to the top of the plateau near Red Hands Cave.
The ochre hand stencils at Red Hands Cave are some of the best to see in Sydney, but the walk itself is not as impressive as those in the upper Blue Mountains. It was good however to be outdoors again after a few weekends of rain and enjoy stretching the legs on this walk.
