This trek explores 3 of the most easily accessible historic huts on the Long Plain and Cooleman Mountain. All of the huts can be reached by car, and there are a number of other huts that can be accessed in the area by walking - something to look forward to for when I return. Although I have visited these huts a number of times previously, they still remain fascinating for me - the history, especially one of hardship and isolation just reinforces how much we have to be grateful for.

Of the 3 huts, the Coolamine Homestead is by far the most interesting. The complex of restored buildings is a fascinating place to visit, especially Campbell House with it's newspaper lined walls that can provide hours of enjoyable reading, with the news, fashions and entertainment from the 1930s.
