Burrawang Walk

Grade 2 Grade 2

Kurnell NP, NSW
1.5 km (1 hr )
★★★☆☆

This easy walk tells the story of the first meeting of European and Aboriginal culture on the east coast of Australia through interpretive signs, memorials and a museum at the Visitors Centre. The track also features the native vegetation as well as a variety of introduced plants the have been planted over time to commemorate this historic site.

I spent a pleasant half an hour completing the walk, along with another half an hour exploring the artefacts and displays in the museum showcasing the momentous eight days in 1770 when Lieutenant Cook, Sir Joseph Banks and the crew of the endeavour visited this site. A fascinating account of the time as seen through the eyes of both the Europeans and Aboriginal inhabitants.
