Woronora River was the first place I took my new kayak for a trial paddle. Located in the Sutherland Shire, Woronora River features a 10 kilometre navigable stretch of water from the mouth of the river where it joins Georges River, to The Needles, the highest navigable point on the river. The river is tidal, which always seems to work against me when I visit!

With exercise being one of the few activities still available during the COVID-19 crisis, I took the opportunity on the beautiful Easter Sunday to paddle upstream. It was a perfect day to be out on the water, especially since there were no motorised craft on the river that morning. While I did not reach the Needles this trip, it is an easy paddle there and one I recommend, since the further upstream you go, the more peaceful the river is.
