The Granites Walking Track explores the granite boulders that gives the area its Aboriginal name of Tibooburra (place of rocks). There are numerous interpretive signs along the way and the track is well marked and easy to follow. Camping is also available here and the nearby Golden Gully where mining artefacts are displayed is worth a visit.
This is a remote area of New South Wales and the desert location boasts the hottest temperatures recorded in New South Wales. Be well prepared if you decide to venture here, and be aware that the roads are only accessible in dry weather. Unfortunately heavy rain on this visit forced us to head south to Broken Hill, only just making it there before the Silver City Highway was shut due to flooding.
