Horse Camp Hut
Guthega, NSW

★★☆☆☆
This was the last of my snowshoe walks in the Kosciuszko National Park. The walk took me from Guthega Power Station to the high altitude plateau, before continuing along Schlink Road to Horse Camp Hut. Built in the 1950s for surveyors, this corrugated iron hut has a distinctive red door and is a popular camping spot, both in winter and summer.
The walk was easy to navigate, following a management road, but it did alternate between beeing covered in snow and bare gravel. While the scenery is not as spectacular as elsewhere in the park, snow always lends a touch of something special in Australia (being rare outside of the apline regions), so I did enjoy the hike.
