★★☆☆☆

The Paroo-Darling National Park spans two distinct regions in this arid catchment area of the Paroo River. The northern section of the national park covers the ephemeral freshwater lakes of Peery Lake and Poloko Lakes, while the south is where the Paroo River meets the Darling River. Peery Lake is a day use area only and features a picnic area with covered picnic tables, barbecue and toilets.

Peery lake is a magnet for birds when full. We were fortunate to see water in the lake when my friends and I visited in late 2020, although we did not spot any birds during the heat of the day. There were no defined tracks from the picnic area, so access to the water's edge was making our own way across the sand and gibber plain. Access to Peery Lake is via unsealed dry weather roads.
