Toorale Station was once a thriving sheep and cattle station in outback NSW, first establised in 1857. The Australiabn bush poet Henry Lawson worked as a roustabout in the Toorale woolshed in 1892. Lawson composed many works including A Stranger on the Darling, Bourke and Bosses Boots while at working at Toorale.

The homestead precinct showcases the extensive buildings of a rural station, including the homestead (1896), motor garage, blacksmith’s shop and farrier’s hut. There are a number of historic photos and descriptions of life on the station, with some of the photos being recreted as metal scultputres on the gounds of the homestead. Access to the interiors is by guided tour only, but my friends and I spent an iteresting half hour exploring the exterior and the nearby Warrego River.
