Darling River Drive
Toorale NP, NSW
48.0 km (1 hr )
★★☆☆☆
The Darling River Drive is a 48 km loop located in the north eastern section of the remote Toorale National Park. The road is two sandy ruts that is best tackled by a 4WD vehicle and like all roads within Toorale National Park, it is a dry weather only road.
The road takes you to Karnu Yalpa (Many Big Rocks) campground and picnic area on the banks of the Darling River. Coolabah trees and giant red gums line the banks of the river which winds its way south to the Murray River. There are picnic tables and toilets in the shady spot, which provided for a relaxed and tranquil afternoon, where my friends and I escaped the heat.
