Perched high on a hilltop at the edge of the desert are a series of 12 sandstone sculptures. Created in 1993 by various artists, the artwork has become an icon of the nearby city of Broken Hill (13 km to the south). A short loop winds its way around the sculptures and information signs provide details of the artist and what the sculpture represents.

There is a short trail from the hilltop, down to the Living Desert and picnic area, a fenced off flora and fauna sanctuary. As it was late afternoon, I only had time to complete the shorter Arboretum Walking Track, a loop around the native desert flora of the region. Like the sculptures, this too features information signs about the native plants.

Note that entry fees apply. There are picnic facilities located at the picnic area. Camping is also available nearby.
