N'Dhala Gorge

Grade 3 Grade 3

East MacDonnell Ranges, NT

★★★☆☆

The highlight of the N'Dhala Gorge Walk is seeing the hundreds of petroglyphs (rock engravings) that were made by the Aboriginals thousands of years ago. It is estimated that there are almost 6,000 petroglyphs in this gorge. The N'Dhala Gorge Walk is a short track that follows the creek bed through the red rocky hills.

N'Dhala Gorge is a remote location that can only be accessed by 4WD. At the time of my visit in the height of summer, temperatures were very high and there was little shade along the track. It was a good thing that the walk was short!
