Coolah Tops National Park is a subalpine park (1,100 m elevation) with tall eucalypt forests, waterfalls, giant grass trees and scenic forest drives. There are a number of campgrounds on the plateau, which is usually cooler than the surrounding plains.

This track visits two lookouts in the northern section of the national park. Bundellah Lookout is a short stroll from the picnic area of the same name and has sweeping views of the surrounding Liverpool Plains. Pinnacle Lookout is a short walk to the west and offers a different view from a rocky basalt outcrop. Both lookouts are not fenced, so take care near the cliff edges.
