Standley Chasm
West MacDonnell Ranges, NT

★★★★☆
Standley Chasm is a narrow cutting carved through the red sandstone cliffs of the West MacDonnell Ranges by a tributary of the Finke River. There is an entry fee to the site that supports the Traditional Aboriginal Owners who own the private reserve in which Standley Chasm is located. It is an amazing place, full of greenery of gum trees and cycads that is unique to this area of the West MacDonnell Ranges.
My friends and I did this trek early in the morning when we had the place to ourselves. The walk is short and on a well maintained path, although the chasm itself has a rocky floor. A destination not to be missed if you are in the area.
