Mount Etna Caves National Park is the roosting site for more than 80 per cent of Australia's breeding population of little bent-wing bats. Numerous caves are located in the rocky karst, formed from the limestone of ancient coral reefs. My friends and I visited two sections of Mount Etna Caves National Park - the short, self-guided walk off Camoo Caves Road, and the climb to the summit of Mount Etna and the Bat Cleft.

The self-guided walk is a short loop through the dry rainforest and razor sharp limestone of Mount Etna National Park. There are numerous information signs along the walk describing the flora and the resident bats. Picnic facilities and toilets are located at the start of the track.
