Kissing Point Fort is located on the northern outskirts of Townsville. First established in 1891 as part of the coastal defences for the colony of Queensland, the fort was later expanded, especially during the early stages of World War 2.

The fort and the adjacent Jezzine Barracks which are now part of the Army Museum of North Queensland is open to the public. There are interpretive signs along the walk to the fort, several memorials and two six-inch guns that replicate the defences of the fort in the late 1890s'.
