Alligators Nest is located within Tully Gorge National Park, which forms part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The beautiful swimming hole is located where Boulder Creek and Derra Creek join. Thankfully, the waterhole derives its name from the local Scout Group, known as ‘The Alligators,’ which used to gather there. The area is free of crocodiles.

The crystal clear waterhole is reached via a short walk from the picnic area located at the end of Bulgan Road. There are toilets, gas barbecues and picnic tables located adjacent to the waterhole.
