Wyperfield National Park is located in the flat, semi-arid north-western corner of Victoria. The Wonga Hut area of the national park is located approximately 50 km north and west of Hopetoun. Wonga campground and picnic area provides ready access to three of the park's key attractions including the Wonga Discovery Walk.

The 4 km Wonga Discovery Walk is a loop that heads up and over the mallee sand dunes, before circling back over the largest of the dunes at Mt Mattingley Lookout. There are numerous information signs along the way, where you lift the lid to discover more about the region's flora and fauna. I particularly enjoyed the smell of the Slender Cypress pines, a distinctive and pleasant aroma. Picnic tables and toilets are located at the campground near the start of the walk.
