Mount Arapiles is a prominent feature rising from the flat expanse of the surrounding Wimmera Plain. The mountain provides panoramic views of the nearby Mitre Rock, Victoria Ranges and Little Desert. The area is a favourite destination for rock climbing, as are the nearby Grampians.

Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park has a number of short walks that you can explore, including Bluff Lookout, Summit Lookout and Mitre Caves. There are also longer walks - the 4 km Gully Loop Walk and 15 km Circuit Walk. Camping is available at the base of the mountain at one of three campgrounds.
