The Mount Buffalo Gorge Heritage Walk is a scenic loop that follows in the footsteps of former Guide Alice - (Alice Mansfield), who in the early 20th century took tour groups up from the plains to this location. The easy walk follows the cliff edge to a number of spectacular lookouts, including Bents Lookout, Gorge Lookout, Falls Lookout and Pulpit Rock. There are numerous information signs along the walk and a number of historic locations, including the beautiful historic Mount Buffalo Chalet that dates back to 1910.

Picnic facilities are available at the Gorge Day Visitor Area, which is also the starting point for a number of other walking tracks, including one to The Monolith and Lake Catani.
