Granite Island

★★★☆☆
Granite Island is a small (25 hectare) island, located off Victor Harbour, approximately 85 km south of Adelaide. The island is linked to the mainland via a new causeway, which replaced the historic wooden jetty that had been built in 1875. The horse drawn tram that began operating in 1894 continues to this day.
The Kaiki Trail is a 3 km loop that follows the island's coastline. There are numerous interpretive signs along the walk about the island's wildlife, geology and history. Sadly, the island's population of fairy penguins declined in the early 2000's, and are no longer a feature of the island.
