Seal Bay is home to an Australian sea lion population and provides an opportunity to see these mammals up close. There are two options to view the sea lions - as part of a guided tour which takes you to the beach where many of the sea lions rest, or on a self-guided boardwalk tour, that provides access to a number of viewing points.
Due to time constraints, my friends and I opted for the self-guided boardwalk tour. We were very fortunate to be able to see some sea lions very close by, as a number had made their way up the sand dunes near the boardwalk to rest. The sea lions on the beach and in the water were further away, requiring binoculars to see. We did enjoy the sweeping views from the lookouts, which you do not get from the guided tour, and the information in the visitors centre gave some new insights into these remarkable animals.
