Wollomombi Falls
Oxley Wild Rivers NP, NSW
7.2 km (2 hrs )
★★★☆☆
Plunging some 220 m into the valley below, Wollomombi Falls are the highest waterfalls in New South Wales. The Wollomombi Falls picnic area is located midway between two of the walks which take you to some amazing viewpoints on the edge of the escarpment. The picnic area features tables, barbecues and toilets, as well as the main viewing platform for the falls.
Chandler Walk heads south from the picnic area to the Main Falls Lookout (easy), before continuing on to Checks lookout and Chandler Viewpoint (hard). Chandler Viewpoint heads out on a narrow track to a rocky promontory, with spectacular views of the Wollomombi Gorge.
Wollomombi Walk heads north and east from the picnic area and visits three lookouts - Eagle View lookout, Wollomombi Falls lookout and Chandler Falls lookout. This is an easier track to walk and is therefore more popular than the Chandler Walk. Both tracks offer some magnificent views and are well worth doing.
