★★★☆☆

Bald Rock is the largest exposed granite dome in the southern hemisphere. Standing prominently above the surrounding plains, the climb to the summit on the steep and exposed granite rock can be challenging. This was the last major walk that my dad did, and I am glad that he was able to see the amazing views from the summit for himself. Completing the loop is the slightly longer, but easier Bungoona walk. This allows you to avoid the steep descent down the rock face.

The picnic area at the base of the rock has picnic tables, barbecues and toilets. Just across the border in Queensland is Girraween National Park, which also features some amazing granite outcrops. This was the next destination for my dad and I and it was well worth the visit.
