This is my favourite walk in Tasmania and one of the best in Australia. The easy circuit around Dove Lake provides some spectacular views of Dove Lake, the distinctive outline of Cradle Mountain and of course, the iconic boatshed. The unique Tasmanian rainforest of pencil pines, fagus and pandani is amazing to see, especially in the southern area of the lake at the Ballroom forest.

The more challenging track to Marions Lookout was a first for me, and worth the stiff climb. The higher altitude gives a different view of Dove Lake and the surrounding mountains, and the return journey via Crater Lake and Wombat Pool was very nice.
