I had wanted to paddle on the Pittwater for a long time, and having heard from a colleague at work about free parking at Bayview, I took the opportunity of the great weather to visit this place.

I launched my kayak from the small sandy beach at Riddle Reserve and headed past Scotland Island to Elvina Bay. Elvina Bay is a small community on the shores of Pittwater that my son and I had walked to a number of years ago. It was nice to be able to revisit this tranquil destination. From Elvina Bay, I continued north to Lovett Bay. This beautiful bay was the highlight of my trip, especially the upper reaches of the bay.

Continuing north I decided to try to make it to The Basin, which I almost did, before having to turn around at the 3 hour mark in order to make it back to Bayview before the allotted parking time expired. Thankfully an incoming tide helped me on the return journey, even if the wind kicked up a swell. It was a great day out on the water and one I hope to return to in the future.
