The Cascades

★★★★☆

This walk explores the upper reaches of what is now Garigal National Park. It closely follows in the footsteps of the first expedition of Governor Phillip, who explored the area in 1788.

Beginning at the scenic Davidson Park on the banks of Middle Harbour Creek, the walk first follows Lyrebird Track - an easy and level walk, before joining the Governor Philip Track as you head further upstream. While you can continue all the way to St Ives, I turned around at the cascades and made my way back south to Bungaroo Track, then on to Two Creeks Track, part of which I had previously walked.

This is a very long walk at over 20 km, but quite interesting. The section between Bungaroo Track and Two Creeks Track was not very well defined, but if you follow Middle Harbour Creek as I did, you should be OK. There are picnic facilities at Davidson Park.
