★★★☆☆
Powerhouse Castle Hill and Museums Discovery Centre is the home for the storage, conservation and display of more than 500,000 objects in the collections of the Powerhouse Museum, the Australian Museum and Sydney Living Museums. The collections that are on display are organised into six stores.
Store 1 displays art and creative pieces such as vases, chairs, silverware and crockery. Store 2 focuses on innovative technology such as telephones, cameras, clocks, television. Store 3 is the largest space and houses the transport collection, including aircraft, a boat, train, bus, cars and even a copy of the mars rover.
Store 4 is all about nature and biology, while Store 5 is for domestic life and showcases household appliances. Finally, Store 6 is dedicated to architecture and you can view architectural models of buildings such as the Sydney Opera House.
This was an interesting place to spend a few hours and there is sure to be something for everyone given the variety of items on display. The Museums Discovery Centre is open on weekends and entry was free at the time of my visit.
