★★★☆☆
Mandalay Beach is located on the south coast of Western Australia in the stunning D'Entrecasteaux National Park. The beautiful beach is named after the 1911 shipwreck of the Mandalay. On 15 May 1911, Captain Tonnessen and all 12 crew of the Mandalay miraculously made it safely ashore after becoming shipwrecked during treacherous winds. A local pioneer helped the men survive on what was, and still is, an extremely isolated stretch of coast. A fascinating interpretation display overlooking the beach tells the story of the Mandalay.
Mandalay Beach is one of the few beaches in the D'Entrecasteaux National Park that is accessible by 2WD vehicles. There is a lookout and stairs that lead down to the beach. Picnic facilities are located at Crystal Springs Campground at the start of the Mandalay Beach Road near the South Western Highway.
