The Pinnacles
Nambung NP, WA
2.5 km (2 hrs )
★★★★☆
The Pinnacles are amazing natural limestone structures in the shape of narrow, tall pillars, ranging in height from a few centimetres to over 3.5 m in height. The structures are believed to have been formed from deposits of sea shells, left after the sea receded. Wind and erosion has since removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars which we now see.
The Pinnacles are located in Nabung National Park, approximately 200 km north of Perth. The park can be explored both by foot on the 1.6 km Desert View walking trail as well as by car on the 5.8 km Pinnacles Drive. There are plenty of places to stop and take photos on the drive which can be done by 2WD vehicles. The Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre has a full range of facilities and lots of information about this unique location.
