Griffins Farm
Grade 4
Morton NP, NSW
9.6 km (3 hrs )
★★☆☆☆
Griffins Farm is located at the bottom of the isolated Yarrunga Creek Valley, within Morton National Park. The farm was home to the Griffin family, who lived and cut timber here between the 1940s and 1970s.
The 5 km walk from Jack's corner to the farm is easy, following a fire trail, although expect to get your feet wet when crossing Yarrunga Creek. The water was icy cold when I crossed in winter! The farm is long gone, although remnants can still be seen in the numerous logging tracks, clearings and foundations. The former farm is now a campground with a toilet and is a popular overnight stop for hikers continuing up to Meryla Pass (5 km).
