Cascade Hut

★★★★☆

This section of the Australian Alps Walking Track follows the Cascade Trail south into the Pilot Wilderness Area to the historic Cascade Hut. Built in 1934 as a stockman's shelter, the hut is in good condition and a welcome place to rest after the 10 km walk along the firetrail from Dead Horse Gap. Along the way, the Cascade Trail follows the Thredbo River, before climbing to Bobs Ridge - a series of granite tors perched on top of the hill with views over the Murray River into Victoria.

This was a nice walk into a much less visited part of Kosciuszko National Park. The road continues south to Tin Mines and then eventually to Barry Way near the Pinch River campground.
