Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse

★★★☆☆
Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse is perched high on a dramatic headland near Seal Rocks. Completed in 1875, it is the first lighthouse designed by colonial architect James Barnet and one of only two lighthouses in Australia with an external stairway. The lighthouse precinct includes a number of buildings, including the Lighthouse Keepers’ quarters and outbuildings that have been refurbished and are available for rent as holiday accommodation.
There is a short walk from the carpark to the lighthouse, which offers some spectacular views to the south, over Lighthouse Beach. A track near the Lighthouse Keepers’ quarters provides access to the beach below. This was my second visit to the lighthouse - one of the prettiest in New South Wales.
