★★★★☆
Fagan Park is a 55 hectare recreational area, located in Galston in northern Sydney. Run as an orchard from the early 20th century, the farm was donated to the Hornsby Shire by the Fagan family in the early 1980s, for use by the public. The park was opened in 1988, and features a number of distinct areas. The native reserve at Carrs Bush preserves native turpentine and red gums along the banks of George Hall Creek. The Gardens of Many Nations covers 10 hectares and has 11 themed gardens, including Chinese, Japanese, North and South American and Mediterranean. There are also picnic areas, large open spaces, children's playgrounds, a rural museum and an off leash dog area.
Fagan Park is open every day (except Christmas). A small entry fee per vehicle applies. I very much enjoyed my afternoon exploring the park. I especially liked the Gardens of Many Nations and the discovery track at Carrs Bush.
