★★★☆☆
The Thirlmere Festival of Steam has become one of Wollondilly Shire's most iconic and successful events, drawing thousands of visitors during May to view all things steam, but especially the steam trains that run between Thirlmere and Picton or Buxton. My brother, who is a train enthusiast, invited me along to join the festival, as well as to tour the extensive NSW Rail Museum with its huge collection of train engines and carriages.
We both had a great day out, exploring the trains, riding to Buxton and back and taking many, many photos! I particularly enjoyed the Great Train Hall, with its varied collection of both steam and diesel engines.
