West Coast
Travels from the Top End to the South West of Australia.
John and I began this epic journey in Darwin, where we picked up our home and transport for the next 3 weeks. After stocking up on provisions, we headed south to explore the beautiful Litchfield National Park, home to the famous magnetic termites.
Heading south, we cooled off in the pristine waters of Edith Falls before turning west. Crossing the border into Western Australia, we were side-tracked by a short detour at Halls Creek to the beautiful Palm Springs – a true desert oasis. This necessitated in a thorough cleaning of the campervan in Broome – the amount of bull dust we picked up had to be seen to be believed!
From Broome, we detoured to the Hamersley Ranges before returning to the main coastal highway for the drive south to Perth. After a short break in the city, we continued south to explore the much greener coast with its blue waters, white beaches and tall trees. Highlights included a lighthouse tour, underground caving and treetops walk.
