Around the World
A trip of a lifetime visiting many exotic destinations all around the world.
We began the trip proper exploring the ancient civilisation of Egypt. Flying into the chaotic city of Cairo, we had a few days on our own to make a thorough tour of the Egyptian antiquities museum, as well as a chance to bargain hard for souvenirs. Joining our tour group, we visited the only remaining wonder of the ancient world - the Pyramids of Giza. Here we had the unique opportunity to go inside one of the pyramids, as well as attend the sound and light show, a journey through thousands of years of history.
Journeying from Cairo, we explored the old capital of Luxor, with its many temples, monuments and the Valley of the Kings - final resting place for many pharaohs. A luxury cruise up the Nile River brought us to many other sites, the highlight of which was the awesome carved temple of Abu Simbel.
Jordan was our next destination, with ancient Roman ruins to explore in Jerash, crusader castles on the King's Highway and the inspiring rose coloured city of Petra.
Flying in to Europe was like going forward a few hundred years into the future. Vibrant cities, the magnificent scenery in the Alps and historic buildings occupied us for a few weeks as we journeyed from southern Austria, across Germany and Switzerland to The Netherlands, Belgium and finally to France. A quick train trip to the UK brought us to castles, wonderful long drives and good old English pub food!
From the ancient, to the old and finally to the new - the USA was our final leg of the world trip, with shopping (New York), museums (Washington DC), bright lights (Las Vegas), awesome scenery (canyon land) and amusement parks (Los Angeles). Truly a trip of a lifetime!
