Scandinavia
Exploring the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
I had the opportunity to take my dad with me to explore the Scandinavian countries. We began our journey in Sweden, visiting the historic centre of Stockholm, before heading south to explore the coastal regions on the Baltic Sea. We loved the pocket sized Stenshuvud national park in and marvelled at the historic stone monuments, but the highlight for me was the flygvapen museum in Linkoping, with its historic and modern aeroplanes. We even had the opportunity to visit an iconic IKEA store!
From Sweden we crossed into Denmark to explore the capital, Copenhagen. After a two day immersion into the city, we headed to Kronborg Castle, before catching the ferry back to Sweden. Travelling up the west coast we visited Bohus Fortress, before crossing into Norway, our third Scandinavian country. After a few days in Oslo, we began our exploration of this fascinating country, with its fjords, waterfalls and many, many tunnels!
We loved Norway, with the highlight being our stay in spectacular Geiranger. Also high on the list was the cruise from Gudvangen to Flåm, descending Trollstigen, the coastal city of Alesund and the Atlantic Road to Trondheim. We finished our journey back in Sweden, having had a marvellous time in Scandinavia.
