Nature Track
Wentworth Falls, NSW

★★★☆☆
The Nature Track is a short walk that takes you from the top of the plateau at Wentworth Falls to the top of the Valley of Waters and back. The Nature Track can be done on its own, or combined with the many other tracks in this area for a longer, more challenging walk. I did this walk after completing the Valley of the Waters, Wentworth Pass and Overcliff - Undercliff tracks.
The start of the walk near the Conservation Hut at Wentworth Falls, was not particularly interesting, and I was thinking of rating this walk as a 2 star. This changed once I headed down into the Valley of the Waters and Empress Canyon. Here, the dryer vegetation of the plateau gives way to the ferns of the hanging swamps and the subtropical rainforest of the cooler, wetter valley. The fern lined Lillian's Glen was the highlight of this walk. Hidden behind the large boulders at the end of the small, shallow pool of water is a deeper pool of water at the base of the waterfall that plunges from a high, narrow canyon. This remarkable, photogenic spot changed my rating of the Nature Track to a 3 star.
