Blue Gum Loop
Williams River Picnic Area, NSW
4.0 km (1.5 hrs )
★★☆☆☆
The Blue Gum Loop is a short track that provides an introduction to the magnificent rainforest of the Barrington Tops National Park. The track describes a circuit on both sides of Williams River and passes through forest regrowth, a series of cascades at Fern Creek, dense ancient rainforest, deep waterholes and majestic blue gums. This track is ideal to explore if you do not have time to do the longer Rocky Crossing Track.
The highlight of this walk is Crystal Pool, one of my favourite swimming holes on the Williams River (the other being at Rocky Crossing). This deep, cold pool is perfect on those hot summer days when camping in the nearby Allyn River State Forest.
