★★★★☆
Bungonia National Park is located in the Southern Highlands, approximately 30 km south of Marulan. This is karst country and there are over 170 recorded caves in the area, where water has eroded the limestone, sometimes to a depth of over 150 m. While many of the caves require experience and specialised equipment including ropes for the near vertical descents, there a number of caves that are much easier to access, including two of the more popular caves visited on this track.
This track is known as the 'Green Track', an easy loop that visits a number of caves, as well as some stunning lookouts over the Bungonia Slot Canyon. The track can be accessed from a number of different locations including Bungonia Campground (with full facilities), Adams Lookout (toilets and picnic tables) and David Reid Picnic Area (toilets, picnic tables and barbecues). Bring a torch if you want to explore any of the caves, but note that the caves can be wet and slippery and are definitely not for the claustrophobic! Do register at the park's visitor's centre if you intend on exploring any of the caves and note that this is at your own risk.
